To Listen Counselling, Life Coaching and
Hypno-Psychotherapy
Service
At some time in our lives, most of us could use the services
of a good listener. Someone who is not going to "tut-tut" and
say; “I don't know how you could do a thing like
that” or “I’ve done some silly things
in my time but...!” Someone who takes everything
on board without judgement or prejudice is what is needed,
and most of the time a good friend will do. However, talking
to even the kindest and most caring friends is not the
same as talking to a professional therapist, and every
now and again, it is the latter that is needed. Friends
can be reassuring but a professional may be able to help
change things.
We all experience some degree of anxiety, confusion, and
depression from time to time. When these become extreme
or uncontainable, we need help. Friends cannot tolerate
our anxieties forever. They draw on their own experience,
which is well meaning, but may be irrelevant.
You may find a supportive Counsellor/Psychotherapist
can help you through a crisis or a difficult patch in your
life. Or you may find it more helpful to talk after the
crisis has passed, to think about what happened and why.
No
matter how impossible a situation may seem, there are
always different ways of looking at it, only sometimes
because you are so involved with that situation or issue,
you cannot see the possibilities. Counselling gives you
the space, time, and freedom to explore these possibilities,
to look at goals and how to achieve them, or to perhaps
discover patterns and themes in your behaviour, or lifestyle,
and look at where they come from or how to change them.
You
could be dealing with issues of low self-esteem, lack
of confidence, feelings of isolation or being trapped
in
a situation you feel you can't get out of, or you may
just need to sound out aloud the route you have chosen
to deal
with something, to check that it's the right one for
you.
It’s important to realise though, that
getting professional help is not a sign of weakness. Therapy
can be a last resort
when all else has failed, or it can be used by anyone interested
in self-knowledge and growth that wants to get more out
of life.
More and more companies are now introducing
counselling in to the work place to help staff and management,
deal
with conflict and work related issues, these are known
as Employer Assisted Programs.
The N.H.S. and Primary
Health Care Trusts now provide counselling through clinics,
general
practitioners, and specialised health care organisations,
and there are numerous charities and advice centres
offering counselling free of charge; so you can see that
counselling
certainly is beneficial for a very broad spectrum of
society.
